The Original Art Work of Eleanor Fortescue-Brickdale RWS.
Eleanor Fortescue-Brickdale RWS (1871 – 1945) studied at the Crystal Palace School of Art under Herbert Bone from 1889, then at the RA Schools. Some of her works in oils and watercolours were shown in the Exhibitions from 1896 and three solo exhibitions at the Pre-Raphaelite Dowdeswell Gallery in the 1900s. She became RWS in 1919. As a book illustrator, she flourished in the early years of the last century, working on children's books and poetry.
Books Illustrated include: Ivanhoe, The Book of Old English Songs and Ballads, The Idylis of the King, Golden Book of Famous Women, The Gentle Art, Christmas Carols etc.
