The Original Art of Beresford Egan
Beresford Egan (1905 – 1984) grew up in Johannesburg where he worked as a sports illustrator for the Rand Daily Mail. Moving to England in 1926, he was hailed as a unique interpreter of the Art Deco style. He illustrated works for Aleister Crowley, Pierre Louÿs and Charles Baudelaire and published his own works. In later life he became a music-hall performer, film star, dramatist, theatre critic and legendary 'Chelsea artist' - always a lover of beautiful women.
